Weekly Daily Devotional

Week of February 25, 2018

Monday – 2 Chronicles, Chapter 21

1.Because of the evil influence of his wife, Jehoram undid much of the good his  father, Jehoshaphat did. (Vs. 1-20) He died a horrible death, in severe pain, and  the people were not sorry that he died. How sad....

2.Yet with all the evil he did, God was Faithful, and would not destroy the house  of David because of the Covenant He had made with him. (Vs. 7)

Tuesday - 2 Chronicles , Chapter 22

1.Ahaziah, Jehoram's youngest son was chosen to become king in his place.  However, he  received ungodly council from his mother, who encouraged him to  do wrong. (Vs. 1-9) Can anyone imagine such an evil influence, to not only ruin  her husband, but her son too? Husbands and wives, mothers and fathers, our  influence should be of godly advice, always encouraging to do good. Always put  away selfish ambition and think of the consequences of ungodly advice.

2.What did Athaliah do to all the heirs of the house of Judah?

3.How did God save Joash? (Vs. 11-12)

Wednesday - 2 Chronicles, Chapter 23

1.The priests and Levites were organized into 24 divisions, each division taking  turns at serving in the temple.(Vs. 8)  (See. 1 Chron.24:1-4)

2.This covenant was both spiritual and political. (Vs. 16) When the people  declared allegiance to the young king God preserved for them, they also   destroyed the Baal worship favored by Athaliah. (Vs. 17)

Thursday, 2 Chronicles, Chapter 24

1.How old was Joash when he became king, and how long did he reign? (Vs. 1)

2.Jehoida played a role much larger than that of a priest. He instructed Joash,  he was the person God used to restore the line of David to the throne. He had  clout in royal affairs. (Vs 16)

3.Spiritual commitment cannot be taken lightly or for granted. Unfortunately,  Joash also turned away from God. (Vs. 17-22) Let us never take our commitment  to God lightly. Every day, let us stay in the Word, and purpose to live our life for  Him. If anyone of us has gotten careless in our walk, let us stop right now, and  ask for forgiveness. (1 John 1:9) Let us ask Jesus to help us to be strong to live  our life for Him.

4.Zechariah was the first recorded prophet in Judah to suffer martyrdom. He  died because he remained faithful to God's truth and righteous ways. He testified  against the apostasy of the king and the people. (Vs. 21) If we are called to stand  up for God, what will our answer be?

Friday - 2 Chronicles, Chapter 25

1.Let us never allow our finances to determine obedience. God will supply all our  needs to do His will. If we are guilty of poor stewardship, let us confess it to God,  accept His forgiveness, and then obey. We can never outgive God! No matter  what we give Him, He will multiply it!  (Vs. 9)

Saturday - 2 Chronicles, Chapter 26

1.As long as Uzziah continued to seek the Lord and follow His ways, he was  given strength and help to rule as king of Judah. (Vs. 5) If we want success, let  us learn this lesson!

2.Sadly, Uzziah failed to realize that the only way he accomplished so much was  with the help of God (Vs. 5,7) and others. (Vs. 8, 11-13) The result was pride and  it led to the sins of presumption and unfaithfulness. We can never, ever, presume  anything will go our way in our own strength. Let us always trust in God for all  that we need, and give honor where honor is due to those who stand with us.
