Weekly Daily Devotional
Week of January 28, 2018
Monday – 1 Chronicles, Chapter 26
1.Gatekeepers were responsible for the care of the temple. (Vs. 1) This involved a variety of tasks such as guarding the entrance to the temple, protecting the ark, and overseeing the collection and distribution of money. They had to be Levites and their office could be traced down to the time of Moses. Today all Christians are priests unto God, and therefore Gatekeepers. We must guard our faith and the pure Word of God for our generation and future generations. Encourage others to Stay in the Word!
Tuesday - 1 Chronicles , Chapter 27
1.The thirty men refers to David's mighty men known for their courage, strength, and loyalty. (Vs. 6) Are we willing to be those mighty men to guard and encourage Godly leaders?
2.God was angry because of this numbering. (Vs. 24) To find the reason, see I Chron. Chapter 21:1) Let us always seek God and His direction in our life and in all we do. The Holy Spirit will lead if we ask. He will give us a check in our spirit, a Word of wisdom, a dream, a word from a respected person in our life, etc. Let us learn to hear His voice and discern His will.
Wednesday, 1 Chronicles, Chapter 28
1.The Holy Spirit gave David the plans for the temple. (Vs. 12, 19) What did David tell his son, Solomon? When God gives a plan, He will see to it that it is accomplished! We are to live a life of obedience and faithfulness to Him. Has God spoken to you about something in your life that either you must do, or perhaps your children must do? Pray about it, speak it forth, prophecy under the Unction of the Holy Spirit and declare His Word. Pray for God's will to be done!
2.Leaders should take courage and be assured that when God has called them to do something, He will be with them to the finish; He will see to it that it is completed. (Vs. 20)
Thursday, 1 Chronicles, Chapter 29
1.David gave lavishly to the Lord from his resources. (Vs. 1-5) He became a model for giving which encouraged his leaders to follow. (Vs. 6-8) Leaders, be an example with your giving!
2.How did the people give? (9) When we give, let us give in the same way!
3.This prayer demonstrates why David was described as a man after God's own heart. (Vs. 10 -19)
4.Let us always remember that all we possess comes from the Lord, and this should cause us to a greater generosity towards giving. (Vs. 14)
5.David knew that appearances might impress people, but God sees beneath it all. He knows our hidden faults, and He searches out our motives, testing them against the standard of integrity and purity. (Vs. 17-19) Let us always pray for a pure heart!
Friday - 2 Chronicles, Chapter 1
1.Solomon's sacrifices did not earn a meeting with God. It was a sign to the people that he meant business and realized that he needed God's guidance in his reign. (Vs. 5-6) Let us determine to place our cares upon God and seek His guidance in all things.
2.What did Solomon ask for when God told him to ask for whatever he wanted? (Vs. 9-10) Let this always be our prayer!
3.What was God's answer? (Vs. 11-12) God honors those who rely on His wisdom to carry out His plans.
Saturday - 2 Chronicles, Chapter 2
1.Solomon inherited from his father the desire to build a temple for the Lord. (Vs. 1) The best inheritance a father can give to a child is the deep desire to see God's purposes be fulfilled in purity, truth and righteousness.
2.Nothing that anyone can build can contain Him.(Vs. 6) His glory fills the whole universe. The best we can do is to have Him glorified through our life.
