Monday – Psalm 65
1.Our greatest shame would be to treat lightly the privilege of coming into God's presence. Everyone is chosen, but who will accept this privilege? (Vs. 4)
2.The psalmist sings of the greatness of God, in all that He created to provide for us, and continues to care for. (Vs. 8-13) God's existence as well as His sustaining role are evident in the balance of nature. Let us do our part in taking care of His creation.
3.All creation praises God! (Vs. 13) See Psalm 96:11-13)
Tuesday – Psalm 66
1.What kind of a sound should we make in worship? (Vs. 1-4)
2.Praise God out loud! (Vs. 8-12) This passage speaks of Israel. Now, think of what God has brought you through.
3.Let us deal with sin by understanding that sin begins in the heart. Harboring or entertaining sin in our thoughts will make our prayers ineffective. (Vs. 18) If we want God to hear and answer us, let us confess any sin whether in thought, word, or deed.
Wednesday - Psalm 67
1.This psalm begins with a priestly blessing. Causing His face to shine upon us is the same as our modern "smile of approval." (Vs. 1)
2.God's intent was not just for one nation, it was for all peoples and all nations to know and enjoy Him. (Vs. 3,4) Praise Him, and sing to Him today!
3.Those who serve the Lord will be more productive and enjoy more blessings. (Vs. 5-6) Begin to think of ways to serve Him.
Thursday - Psalm 68
1.David begins with the marching cry of Moses. (See Num. 10:35) and then goes on to follow it with other ancient battle hymns. (Vs. 1)
2.Yah is the short form of Yahweh, the covenant name of God. (Vs. 4)
3.David believed that defense of the defenseless was the motive for warfare. God delights in protecting the weak(Vs. 5) The Holy Spirit teaches us to call God "Abba" which is the modern Hebrew word Israeli children use for "daddy." (See Rom.8:15) If you feel alone ask God to put you under His special care and protection.
4.David takes this song from Deborah's battle song. (See Judges 5:4,5) (Vs. 7-10)
5.Paul uses this passage to describe Christ's rule and authority over sin. (Vs. 18) (see Eph. 4:8-13)
6.Who bears our burdens? (Vs. 19) How often?
7.God, as a Triumphant Warrior deserves all of our praise. (Vs. 24-35) Let us have a victory march today!
Friday - Psalm 69
1.David was depressed when he wrote this psalm. (Vs. 1-3) Even God's people can go through seasons of doubt. David could be depressed because he was human, but he could pray about his depression because he belonged to God! When we feel down, that is the time to pray and ask God for help.
2.Jesus applied this verse about hate to those who rejected Him. (Vs.4) (See John 15:25)
3.The writer was willing to do whatever it took to please God even if it meant being ridiculed. (Vs. 9) The words about zeal are used to describe Jesus' passion for cleansing the temple of commercialism. (Vs. 9) (See John 2:17) Where is our zeal for the church?
Saturday - Psalm 70
1.God wants us to be patient and accept His timing, but he understands our feelings and is pleased when we call upon Him for help. (Vs. 1,5)
2.David was wealthy and famous, but he knew that he was spiritually poor and desperately needed God's help. (Vs. 5) If there is something you need that you have not asked of God, do so today.
