Weekly Daily Devotional

Week of March 18, 2018

Monday – Ezra, Chapter 3

1.Godly living is standing up for what we believe in. Let us be faithful to God in  spite of what the world has to say, or does. The Lord will honor those who honor  Him. (Vs. 3)

2.The people gave a great SHOUT of praise to the Lord because of what He had  done. (Vs. 11) Let us think of what we are grateful for, and give a great SHOUT  to Him today!

3.The older Israelites' weeping was most likely the result of seeing that the  temple did not match the splendor of the temple they once know. (Vs. 12)

Tuesday - Ezra, Chapter 4

1.The world will seek to discourage and frustrate the purposes of God's people.  When faced with conflicts, seek God and stay away from the advice of the   ungodly. Then stand firm! (Vs. 4,5)

2.The Jews were framed by their enemies who claimed the Jews planned to  rebel with major revolts in Egypt and Athens, and the king took these   accusations seriously. The work was ordered to stop temporarily until he gave  another order. Later he let it resume. (Vs. 21-22) Sometimes we think something  is finished, there is no hope, but if God is in it, it will resume.

Wednesday - Ezra, Chapter 4

1.Work on the temple was resumed because of the prophetic ministries of  Haggai and Zechariah. (Vs. 1,2) Notice how the Jews heard the prophecy, and  got to work? And the prophets were right there helping them! Have you received  a prophecy that you are holding on to? Pray into it, believe God for it, and get to  work!

2.The eye of the Lord was upon them. This shows God's watchfulness over His  people, His personal care. (Vs. 5) We serve a Personal God who loves us!

Thursday, Ezra, Chapter 6

1.We are to trust that God works through all authority to which we must respond.  (Vs. 1-12) Every day, let us pray for all those in authority in our nation, for Godly  wisdom and direction to prevail. For them to see the hand of God in public   matters, and decree what is holy and acceptable to Him.

2.The temple was completed in 516 B.C. twenty one years after the laying of the  foundation. (Vs. 15)

3.What did the people do with joy, and what did the Lord do in regard to the  king? (Vs. 22)

Friday - Ezra, Chapter 7

1.This is almost 60 years later, in 458 B.C.

2.Ezra's personal devotion and discipline later qualified him to minister as a  priest in Jerusalem. (Vs, 10)

3.We are to trust that God is able to work His will even beyond  civil government  when it may be hostile. (Vs. 11-28) Nothing is impossible to Him!

Saturday - Ezra, Chapter 8

1.This listing shows the fulfillment of Artaxerxes' decree in Chapter 7:13. It gives  the return of priests (vs. 2) royalty (vs.2,3) and common Hebrews (Vs. 3-14).

2.Leaders, ask God to send people to help you in your place of ministry. Do not  try to accomplish it by yourself. (Vs. 15-20)

3.Leaders, call for corporate fasting when undertaking a major project or   entering a significant season in your church or ministry. (Vs. 21-23) Be assured  that God sees and hears the humbling of self that accompanies prayer and  fasting.

4.Leaders, pursue excellence in your stewardship. Keep all financial matters in  the open, with the utmost integrity. (Vs. 28-33)
