Weekly Daily Devotional

Week of November 26, 2017

Monday – Proverbs, Chapter 23

1.Avoid being a spendthrift or a miser. (Vs. 4) Let us not allow money to become  our god. Let us be careful how we spend, make provision for future needs, but do  not be anxious over it. Anxiety or worry shows lack of faith in God's care for us.

2.Discipline and correction are essential to the spiritual and emotional well being of a child.  Always keep an attitude of love and patience. (Vs. 13) He may not like it but it will be to his future benefit.

3.The fact of eternity should be enough to motivate us to fear the Lord! (Vs. 18)

4.The dangers of alcohol abuse is in these verses (Vs. 29-35)

Tuesday - Proverbs, Chapter 24

1.Each of us has our own battles to fight, and wise advice is needed to fight  them well. (Vs. 6) In the midst of trials, seek godly counsel.

2.Where does our strength come from in times of trouble? (Vs. 10)

3.It is our obligation as Christians to speak up when we see others heading for  destruction. (Vs. 11,12) If we who believe the Gospel do not speak out, how will  the lost ever hear? Help can be given through education, protesting, and sharing  our resources while giving the message of the gospel.

4.Let us find our vocation in life first, work hard, and then prepare for marriage  and a family. (Vs. 27)

Wednesday - Proverbs, Chapter 25

1.There is such a thing as too much of something good. (Vs. 16)

2.Doing good to our enemies may cause them to experience remorse and  eventually bring them to the Lord for salvation. (Vs. 21-22) Let us remember this  and practice it. Repay evil with good. (Read Romans 12:9-21)

Thursday - Proverbs, Chapter 26

1.Wisdom and truth are formed by accepting what God says, not by human  reasoning. (Vs. 12) Let us always look to the authority of God's Word for answers  to important issues in life.

2.This is a warning that intending to harm someone else may come back on us.  (Vs. 27)

Friday - Proverbs, Chapter 27

1.Our plans should be based upon what the Lord wills. Tomorrow can not be  taken for granted. (Vs. 1) Let us love and help others today as if there is no  tomorrow.

2.Tough love can change a life. (Vs. 6) What kind of friend are we?

3.Praise we receive from others test us as to how we receive it; either in pride or  in humility. (Vs. 21) Pride reveals self-deception in our heart. Our actions should  never be done for praise or self-glory, but must come from our commitment to  God, His Word, and His kingdom. When we pass the test it means we are living  to please God.

Saturday - Proverbs, Chapter 28

1.In God's account, the world's resources end up in the hands of the righteous.  (Vs. 8)

2.A person with no sincere commitment to obey God and His Word, and    participates in sinful activities will have his prayers rendered ineffective. (Vs. 9) If  we want our prayers answered, let us get serious with God.

3.Confession brings mercy from mankind as well as from God. (Vs. 13) If we  need to confess something today, let us do so and make things right with God  and man.

4.God will take care of those who help the poor. His blessings are with them.  (Vs. 27) Let us always be on the look out and ready to help someone in need.
