GATEWAY CITY ACADEMY
Evangelism Team

The Great Commission is great because it is the Church’s mission from Jesus, himself. Go into all the world and make disciples….It is a message of hope, that God loves them and wants to be their friend. Gateway City's approach to evangelism centers on relationships and meeting the “felt” needs of people. We feed the poor, visit the sick, and help those in need.

Some of our outreach programs include:

  • Parks & Festivals – thousands of pieces of Gospel literature is given away, prayer offered, hot dogs cooked. These seasonal events have turned many hearts to Christ;

  • Prayer Stations – our team goes right to the street to ask passersby if they want prayer and they have prayed with as many as 100 people in an hour;

  • Prayer Walks - just before 9/11, Pastor McPhail felt God telling him to move the church prayer meeting into the streets and to pray for the Lord to be enthroned on every block in Brooklyn. Now the church does prayer-walking as a lifestyle. The entire borough of Brooklyn has been prayer-walked (over 9,600 blocks!). What has occurred is a change in the spiritual atmosphere over the borough! There were no incidences with the Muslim community during 9/11; Hidden evil practices have been uncovered; Much favor has come to us in our community and the other communities who have joined us in prayer walking.
