Monday - 1 Chronicles, Chapter 20
1. "Taking the crown and putting it on David's head symbolized David's complete victory and Rabbah's total surrender and humiliation. (Vs. 1-2) "
2. "For more of a description of giants, see: 1 Sam. 17:1-6 and 2 Sam. 21:15-17) (Vs. 4-8) What "giants" do we have in our life today? Think of poverty, marriage problems, drugs, alcohol. Through Jesus, we have the victory to knock them down! Let us praise Him today for all He has done in our life to overcome the giants we have had to face."
Tuesday - 1 Chronicles , Chapter 21
1. Even though David was committed to the Lord, he had his own human weaknesses. Satan prompted him to take a census, and his pride responded to satans suggestion. (Vs. 1)
2. When Moses took a census it was to avoid a plague, and each man was to pay a census tax to support the tabernacle service. (Exodus 30:11-12) David's sin was his motive for taking it.(vs. 1, 6-7) After all the military victories he was inclined to trust in a strong army rather than an all powerful God. Let us always be careful of our motives for doing things.
3. The Lord is a God who has compassion, even for those who deserve punishment. Because of His love and mercy He may shorten or even cancel a punishment He intended to carry out. (Vs. 15)
Wednesday, 1 Chronicles, Chapter 22
1. Even though David was not to build the temple, he did everything within his power to make preparations for it. (Vs. 1-19) There will be times in life where we will have a role in the preparation of something for God that someone else will complete. Let us pray for wisdom in doing our part.
2. God gives us times of peace and rest so that we can devote our heart and soul to seeking Him. (Vs. 19) Let us recognize and cherish those times!
Thursday, 1 Chronicles, Chapter 23
1. The Levites had cared for the tabernacle of Moses, and now they would maintain the temple. (Vs. 1-32)
2. David demonstrated kingly leadership of the highest kind when he arranged for the proper conducting of divine worship. He also specified the work of the Levites, and by doing this he established the foundation for his leadership, and strengthened the religious and political structure of the nation. (Vs. 2) Let us pray for godly leaders today!
Friday - 1 Chronicles, Chapter 24
1. "This chapter deals with the organization of the priests. Their duty consisted in offering sacrifices for the people so that they could approach God to receive forgiveness. (Vs. 1) Thank God, that task was not needed any longer after Jesus established the covenant through His blood. (See. Heb. 3:1; 4:14; 7:23-25; 8:1- 13) Today, all believers are called to be priests, or another word for that; ministers. Let us ask God how we can minister to His people wherever we are; at work, at school, while shopping, etc. "
Saturday - 1 Chronicles, Chapter 25
1. "Musicians played an important part in David's administration. (Vs. 1) Worship should always be high priority for believers. Musicians were leaders who played their instruments, sang, and prophesied through song at that time. The Holy Spirit can do that today through leaders. When we use our voice for God's service and His glory, and under the direction of the Holy Spirit, prophecy can come forth in a powerful way. (Vs. 1) "
